Springtide captures the quiet openness of a coastal landscape, where the retreating water leaves behind a shoreline transformed by light and tide.
A softly illuminated sky stretches above silvery water, its delicate reflections contrasting with the rich terracotta and earthy tones of the exposed foreground. Subtle horizontal marks suggest the movement of shallow water across the shore, while the softened horizon allows sea and sky to merge.
Working between representation and abstraction, the painting explores the relationship between weather, water and the changing character of the coastline. Its restrained palette and expansive composition create a sense of stillness within a landscape continually shaped by natural forces.
