Delivery & Returns

At Justin Butler Art, every original painting and limited-edition print is prepared with care. We want your artwork to arrive safely and for you to feel confident when purchasing.

This policy explains our delivery arrangements, cancellation rights, returns and refunds.

1. Delivery

We currently offer delivery within the United Kingdom. For international delivery enquiries, please contact us before placing an order.

Original paintings are carefully packaged to protect the canvas, painted surface and any included framing. Limited-edition prints are packaged appropriately to minimise the risk of damage during transit.

Delivery charges and available delivery options are displayed at checkout before payment.

We aim to dispatch available artwork promptly, within the timescale stated at checkout or agreed with you. Unless otherwise agreed, orders will be delivered without undue delay and within 30 days of the contract being formed.

We will contact you if we become aware of a significant delay.

2. Packaging and insurance

Original paintings are carefully wrapped and protected for transportation. Where a frame is included, this will be indicated in the artwork's description.

Prints are securely packaged to help prevent creasing, bending or other damage.

We are responsible for the artwork until it reaches you or someone you have nominated to receive it, subject to the legal exception where you independently arrange a carrier not offered by us.

Please inspect your artwork when it arrives and contact us promptly if you notice any damage.

3. Your right to cancel

For most purchases made through our website, you have the legal right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your artwork, without giving a reason.

To cancel, email us within this period, clearly stating that you wish to cancel your purchase.

You then have a further 14 days to send the artwork back to us.

This right normally applies to both original paintings and standard limited-edition prints.

Artwork made to your individual specifications or clearly personalised may be exempt from the change-of-mind cancellation right where permitted by law. Any applicable exception will be explained before you commit to a bespoke commission.

4. Returning artwork

If you decide to return an artwork under your statutory cancellation rights:

  • Please contact us before dispatch so we can provide the appropriate returns address and instructions.

  • Package the artwork securely, preferably using its original protective materials.

  • You are responsible for the direct cost of return delivery for change-of-mind cancellations.

  • We strongly recommend using a tracked and appropriately insured delivery service, particularly for original paintings.

You are permitted to inspect an artwork as you would in a gallery or shop. Where handling goes beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and condition, we may make a lawful deduction from your refund for any resulting reduction in value.

Original packaging is recommended for protection but is not a condition of exercising your statutory right to cancel.

5. Refunds

When you exercise an eligible cancellation right, we will refund the price paid for the artwork, together with the original standard delivery charge.

If you selected a more expensive delivery service, the additional cost above our least expensive standard delivery option will not be refunded.

We will process your refund without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving the returned artwork or evidence that you have sent it back, whichever is earlier.

Refunds are made to the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.

We do not charge a restocking or cancellation fee for exercising statutory cancellation rights.

6. Damaged, faulty or incorrect artwork

If your artwork arrives damaged, defective or materially different from its description, please contact us as soon as possible.

Where possible, include photographs of the artwork and its packaging to help us resolve the matter efficiently.

We will arrange an appropriate remedy in accordance with your statutory consumer rights. This may include a refund, repair or replacement where applicable.

Where goods fail to conform to the contract, we will cover return costs where required by law.

Your statutory rights are unaffected by the ordinary change-of-mind returns policy.

7. Bespoke commissions

Commissioned artwork created to an individual's specifications may be subject to separate written terms covering the agreed brief, price, payment schedule, delivery and cancellation arrangements.

Where a commission qualifies for an exemption from the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right, this will be made clear before the order is placed.

Your statutory rights in relation to faulty or misdescribed goods remain unaffected.

8. International delivery

International orders may be considered by prior arrangement.

Please contact us before purchasing so that delivery costs, shipping arrangements and any applicable import duties or taxes can be clarified.

Any additional charges payable by the customer will be disclosed before the order is accepted, where applicable.
